Avian ecology and behavior, avian biogeography, biodiversity, integrative aspect of natural resources conservation.
Major Research Achievements (2013-2017)
  • The effect of Island isolation on bird evolution, including bird communications, their mating systems that permitted sustainable small populations, and the genetic structure of island populations: a) A comparison of the vocalization of Chinese Bulbul and Styan’s Bulbul on Taiwan and that of Chinese Bulbul on Chinmen Island and in China. b) A comparison of the vocalization of Taiwan Hwamei with Chinese Hwamei. c) The population genetics of Lanyu Scops Owl is being analyzed through microsatellite analysis. d) The mating system of Lanyu Scops Owl, the dominant avian species on Lanyu Island, has been studied both behaviorally and genetically.

    • Foraging strategy of the Honey Buzzard (Pernis ptilorhyncus) at Wufeng region (The Forestry Bureau)
