Major Research Achievements (2013-2017)
  • We have reported that a regulatory mutation in desaturase 2, known to determine a pheromonal polymorphism in Drosophila melanogaster females, may be one of the many loci underlying the behavioral differences between the Zimbabwe and cosmoplitian races of the species. This mutation is strongly correlated with the mating pattern between the two races of the species which appear to be at the incipient stage of speciation.
Research Interests
  • Genetic analysis of speciation
  • Molecular evolution
    Ongoing projects
    • Genetic dissection of premating isolation in Drosophila (NSC grant)
