Major Research Achievements (2013-2017)
  • Allelopathic activiy of local freshwater algae: free fatty acids are revealed to be the allelochemical accounting for toxic effect of Botrycoccus braunii on phyto- and zooplankton. The toxic effects are related to inhibition of the electron transfer between the photosystems as well as of the activity of ATPase on celll membranes.
  • Bioindicator of water pollution: a wide applicable generic index (GI) of diatoms was developed as the indicator of river water pollution.
  • Fog and down logs are revealed to have contributed important role in the nutrient cycle and regeneration of Chamaecyparis forest surrounding Yuanyang lake, respectively.
